The Somatic Journey: An Open Door to a Proven Path

Knowing how to recognize dysregulation in our system and respond in an adaptive and protective way is a powerful wellness tool available to everyone.

Somatic experiencing is a type of therapy that focuses on physical sensations in the body to address trauma, symptoms related to trauma, and overcoming the effects of experiencing extremely stressful events. It is known for treating post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). However, it can also be used to treat other physical and mental health challenges related to chronic stress.

My Somatic Journey is a three-week program based on the somatic tools I was taught in the Biology of Trauma model created by Dr. Aimie Apigian. In this program, you will receive:

  • A daily video (15 total) with one to two somatic exercises with explanations to help you practice.
  • An optional weekly group practice session to review that week's exercises (3 total).
  • Optional share time at the end of each weekly practice session.

  • Body Sensation Awareness: Focusing on different body parts and how they feel (e.g., tense muscles).
  • Connecting Sensations to Stress: Identifying feelings or sensations associated with stress (e.g., an unsettled stomach).
  • Supporting your Body's Sensations: Through touch and movement.
  • Expansion: Once the basics are covered, we practice more advanced techniques that might be otherwise activating.
